The cooperation between the Azerbaijani Ombudsman's office and UNICEF has been discussed in Baku, the Ombudsman's office said.

Azerbaijani Human Rights Commissioner Elmira Suleymanova and UNICEF representative in Azerbaijan Mark Hereward exchanged views on cooperation at the meeting, the report said.
Suleymanova told about the work undertaken and planned in the area of child protection in Azerbaijan.
The Ombudsman stressed the importance to expand activity of 26 children's resource centers, created with the UNICEF support on the balance of the Ministry of Education and involving representatives of regional offices of the Ombudsman with these centers.
Hereward expressed willingness to assist in work of regional offices of the Ombudsman's Office in the field of child rights, as well as in monitoring the implementation of the UN Convention on the "Rights of People with Disabilities". He expressed readiness to render assistance in the field of children's resource centers.
The Ombudsman responded to the guest's questions about the situation of early marriage and reproductive health activities in the country.
The Ombudsman proposed to support the publication of legal literature prepared by the office, including re-publication of a specialized report on children's rights as a book.
The issue of strengthening national independent mechanism to protect children was also raised at the meeting.
