
Children suffering from diabetes received medicines necessary for the treatment under the project realized with support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Today, the Yasamal District Executive Power distributed 400 packages of the "Apidra" drug and the 2,000 injection pens among 200 children from poor families at the Heydar Aliyev Museum.
During his speech at the ceremony, Heydar Aliyev Foundation Executive Director Anar Alakbarov greeted children and parents on behalf of Foundation President Mehriban Aliyeva. Since its establishment, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation cares for children who have been deprived of parental care or come from refugee and IDP families, as well as children from poor families, Alakbarov said.
To date, the Foundation assisted in treatment of people, tens of thousands of sick people were operated in Azerbaijan and abroad with the foundation's support, Alakbarov said adding that the work on the establishment of regional medical institutions is also underway.
The project is aimed providing patients suffering diabetes mellitus type I with drugs and, if necessary, holding the necessary medical examinations and six-month medical supervision.
The Republican Endocrinology Center and the Children's Hospital of Endocrinology No.6 , as well as physicians, endocrinologists from the cities of Sumgait and Absheron, were involved in the project for its successful implementation.
The Apidra drug was registered in 2004 in the U.S. and Europe, and passed the state registration in Azerbaijan in October 2008.
