Traffic accidents claimed 580 lives in Azerbaijan within 8 months

About 580 people died, 1711 were injured in road accidents, that took place in Azerbaijan within 8 months, 2010, Head of Public Relations Department of Main State Traffic Police Department of the Republic Kamran Aliyev said.

According to him, 1951 road accidents were recorded in the country within 8 months of the current year. 611 of the accidents ended with run over of pedestrians, consequently, 199 died and other 496 were injured. Aliyev said that most of the road accidents caused by speeding. That is, 704 of the road accidents recorded during the report period took place because of high speed. Consequently, 302 people died, 631 were injured.
