Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic Speaking Countries (TurkPA) Ramil Hasanov has met Indian ambassador Debnath Shaw.

Hasanov briefed the ambassador on TurkPA`s structure, workings and international relations.
He said TurkPA uses the parliamentary diplomacy to strengthen peace, security and friendship in the region and world “as international organizations in Europe and Asia do”.
He noted the establishment of TurkPA was of both political and economic importance for not only the region, but also the European countries. Hasanov pointed out the role of TurkPA would further increase in strengthening cooperation between the countries of the region and Europe.
Secretary General also touched upon TurkPA`s international relations, saying it continues its work to establish cooperation with OSCE PA, PACE, NATO PA, CIS PA, OIC PA, BSEC PA and other international and regional structures. According to him, TurkPA intends to observe the forthcoming referendum in Turkey and parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan.
Hasanov noted TurkPA was interested in development of cooperation with India`s embassy in Azerbaijan. Ambassador Shaw, in turn, praised TurkPA's workings and international relations. He wished successes to the activities of the Organization. The ambassador noted he attaches great importance to cooperation with TurkPA.
The diplomat pointed out his country was keen on development of cooperation with Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey. He said Azerbaijan`s parliamentary delegation is expected to visit India next year. The Indian ambassador was presented with the Assembly`s collection of documents and keepsake. TurkPA's Deputy Secretary General, Kazakhstan's representative in the Organization Mels Semgaliyev was present in the meeting.
