Azerbaijani General Prosecutor's office issues statement over murder committed by Justice Ministry officer

Penal Service employee Habil Bayramov was accused of killing 52-year-old head of the Bilajari Power Supply Office Ismayil Allahverdiyev on Bunyadzade Street in Baku on Aug. 22. Bayramov committed the crime together with his fellow Faig Yahyayev. Allahverdiyev was stabbed 71 times, the report says.

Allahverdiyev's relatives living in the same building come to his house after they heard his cries. They demanded to open the door of the apartment and reported the situation to the police.

Bayramov attempted to flee by jumping from the fifth floor of the building. He received serious injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The police detained Yahyayev on the scene.

A criminal case was filed under the Articles 120.2.1 and 120.2.4 (deliberate murder) of the Criminal Code.

Yahyayev was questioned as a suspect. During interrogation, he said that the crime was committed for pecuniary gain.
