Azerbaijani, Iranian scientists synthesized medicine to cure cancer

21 August 2010 [11:24] - TODAY.AZ
The Azerbaijani and Iranian scientists synthesized medicine that cures cancer.
Researchers at the Iranian International Studies Center Arin Kimya and Baku State University (BSU) synthesized a smart-system of drug delivery curing cancer, BSU Chemical Physics of Nanomaterials Department Head Mohammadali Ramazanov ntold Trend.

"We have been working together with our Iranian counterparts. These drugs have been synthesized in Iran, and we have provided the theoretical model and chemical structure," Ramazanov said.

The smart-system of drug delivery is based on nanotechnology. "This system detects cancerous cells, deliver drugs there, using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and can observe the effect of this drug," Arin Kimya Director Muhammedrza Sabuhtekin was quoted as saying by ISNA.

Application of this system gives scientists an opportunity to obtain information about the size of the cancer and the treatment process, Sabuhtekin said.

Sabuhtekin said purpose of this study is the detection of cancerous tumors, correct diagnosis at an early stage and treatment through the smart-system of drug delivery without causing harm to other cells of the body.
