Azerbaijani applies penalties over discharge of wastewater into Caspian Sea

The employees of the Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry and Interior Ministry carried out monitoring to eliminate contamination of the Caspian Sea and verify compliance of management of sewage on the shore of the Caspian Sea with the state laws, Ecology Ministry's Spokesman Irada Ibrahimova said.

The raids revealed that wastewater in the mechanical reservoirs of the Baku sewerage services office are not cleaned and merged into the Caspian Sea. In this regard, the office had been fined for 27,000 manat.

PU Azersu had also been fined for 22, 500 manat for the same violations. Several responsible people were fined for 600-650 manat for the non-cleaning of the wastewater and its discharge into the Caspian Sea through underground horizons.
