The Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry established a new department, the ministry reported.

The centre for monitoring and ensuring environmental standards of drinking water used along the Kur and Araz Rivers and in other settlements will prevent problems in the operation of wastewater treatment plants.
"The municipalities worked to rid the coastal waters, but the ministry revealed that the local governments can not cope with equipments, may not grant wage to workers and face difficulties to pay electricity fee," the ministry reported.
The new structure was created to address these problems. Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Huseyngulu Bagirov said earlier that the ministry will establish a new department which will work to rid the coastal waters of the Caspian Sea and establish drainage systems.
