"The natural disaster damaged grain fields most. Therefore, we appealed to the government for exemption of the imported grain from VAT," department chief of the Ministry of Agriculture Sabir Valiyev said in his interview to the YAP’s website, APA reports.
According to Valiyev, 520,000 tonnes of grain were imported to Azerbaijan in the past five months, there is enough grain reserve in the country. He notes that the production of grain is reducing in Russia – from the expected 90 million tones to 70 million tonnes. Therefore, the Russian government passed a special decision to prevent the export.
“We import grain most from Kazakhstan. Only 15% has been received from Russia within the five months of this year. Import from Kazakhstan will continue. Therefore, we offered the government to pass a special decision to exempt the imported wheat, wheat flour and fodder from VAT for some time,” he said.
