Tatar national holiday marked in Baku

The Tugan Tel Tatar culture society and Tatarstan`s permanent mission in Baku, supported by the Russian Federation embassy in Azerbaijan and Nizami district of Baku have organized a ceremony to mark tatar national holiday, Sabantuy.

The RF ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin read out the congratulatory letter of Tatarstan`s president Rustam Minnikhanov. The Sabantuy holiday is symbol of national unity of the Tatar people, he said.

According to him, marking of Sabantuy in Baku is a landmark event which brings closer the two fraternal peoples of Azerbaijan and Tatarstan.

Speaking at the event was also the chairperson of the Tugan Tel culture society Guljan Myasoutova who expressed gratitude for brotherly attention.

Speakers noted the fact that on the initiative of the president of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva the Sabantuy tatar national holiday has been included into the UNESCO World Culture Heritage List.
