OECD anti-corruption assessment report discussed in Baku

An assessment report of the Istanbul Anti-Corruption Action Plan of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) was heard in Baku on July 28.
The event brought together officials, members of the Milli Majlis and NGOs representatives. Chief of the Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General`s Office of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev said his country has been cooperating with the OECD since 2003.

He noted over the past years the organization had given valuable recommendations to the Azerbaijani government. He also added OECD's recommendations were reflected in relevant orders and decrees signed by President Ilham Aliyev.

Addressing the event, senior advisor of OECD's anti-corruption issues Olga Savran and expert of the Organization Daniel Telesklaf praised what had been done in Azerbaijan to fight the corruption.

Member of the Azerbaijan's Commission on Combating Corruption, parliamentarian Bakhtiyar Aliyev underlined the importance of the event. Aliyev said a State Program on fighting the corruption had been carried out in Azerbaijan. He pointed out the Azerbaijani government had established relevant cooperation with international organizations and mass media. Then, the event participants exchanged views on anti-corruption-related issues.
