The central database of registration of mobile phones will be created in Azerbaijan by the end of the year, Azerbaijan Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies said.

The work to create judicial base of the project has already completed and the project has been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers for approval.
The import mobile phones and those already available in country will be registered through this system. According to the Cabinet of the Ministers request, the project was developed by the Communication Ministry, the State Customs Committee and other relevant bodies.
The central database aims to prevent crimes related to the mobile theft in the country.
The network will include IMEI code of phones. Once the database is created, during customs control new phones will be included to the network and in case of loss or theft, they will be incorporated into this central database. Currently, import mobile phones are registered by the customs system.
Relevant bodies will have a access to the central database. Through ties with neighboring countries, sale or use of stolen phones will be impossible due to the database.
The system is created by Rcom.
