Digital traffic lights to be installed in Baku

08 July 2010 [12:09] - TODAY.AZ
Senior official of the Central Traffic Police Office of Baku, Lieutenant Colonel Vasif Ismayilov says digital traffic lights will be installed on Baku streets soon.
"Digital traffic lights have already been installed at the intersection of Hajibayov and Pushkin streets as an experiment,. This is the only traffic light of its kind in the city, which was installed to see whether it is possible to create this system of traffic regulation in Baku. Later it was decided to install digital traffic lights in capital’s other avenues and streets. So, work is underway in the capital,” he said.

In his turn, chief engineer at the Central State Traffic Police Office Farman Mammadov said installation of digital traffic lights in Baku still stands on agenda.

"Baku Radioworks will deal with installation of these lights. Digital traffic lights will be placed in locations where there is a real need for them,” he said.

A source in the Baku Radioworks said his company and Central State Traffic Police Office are going to sign a deal soon.

“Currently, we are preparing necessary documents and drawing up a calculation in order to coordinate everything with the opposite side,” the source said.

Digital lights are manufactured by the Baku Radioworks itself and installation will start from the next year, the source added.
