A number of events will be held on the occasion the 135th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s national press. The jubilee events will be held both in the regions and the capital, chairman of the Press Council Aflatun Amashov told journalists.

The jubilee events will start from Zardab, where founder of the national press Hasan bay Zardabi was born.
“Under the order issued by the President on the occasion of the 135th jubilee of the press, a plan of events will be prepared. The events will start from Zardab. Various conferences will be held in other regions. The last event will be held in Baku. Moreover, the persons distinguished in journalism will be awarded the titles “Honored journalist”, “Honored culture figure”. The journalist organizations and other bodies have been applied to recommend the distinguished persons in journalism,” he said.
Aflatun Amashov said the complete list had not been prepared in connection with the Supreme Media Prize.
“The journalists and the specialists, who have contributed to the development of this sphere, will be awarded Supreme Media Prize instituted by the Press Council. The discussions are about to end,” he said.
