The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAİD) has launched 'Healthy Food' project in Azerbaijan, presentation of which held in the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan.

Participants spoke about the importance of natural and healthy food for the human body. "Two out of five women (approx. 40%) of reproductive age in Azerbaijan suffer from a lack of iron in the blood and anaemia," the USAID coordinator for Azerbaijan Karen Welch told Trend.
"The U.S. Agency for International Development implements various activities to promote healthy eating to overcome this problem," Welch added.
The act on establishing USAID was signed by President John F. Kennedy in November 1961. For the first time one of the public institutions of the U.S. entirely concentrated on the long-term assistance in economic and social development of other countries, combining the functions of several pre-existing organizations. Annually, about 1% of the federal budget of the U.S. is allocated for financing the programs of the organization. The U.S. Agency for International Development has been operating in Azerbaijan for 15 years already.
