Wartsila to present its services in Azerbaijan

The Finnish energy company Wartsila will present its own works based on modern technology in the Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Ministry June 9, the ministry reported.
The presentation will be held at 10:00 Baku time by the company's delegation headed by Vice-president Kristof Vitsum. The meeting will involve representatives of the Ministries of Emergency Situations, of Defense, of Defense Industry and Health, SOCAR, Azerenerji, Caspian Shipping Company, Azeristiliktechizat, Baku Metro and other state-owned organizations.

Wartsila has been conducting its activity in Azerbaijan for 10 years and it has 90 employees. From 2005 to 2010, the company constructed 7 modular electric power stations with overall capacity of 880 MW in Azerbaijan (Astara, Baku, Khachmaz, Nakhchivan, Sheki, Guba and Sangachal). The largest of these is the Sangachal power plant with capacity of 300 megawatts.

Besides, the company has rich experience in the area of production of oil and gas compressor equipment, ship-building, thermal systems. This company's equipment played positive role in realization of world-scale project - Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline.

The company is certified ISO 9001, 14001, 18001, represented by DNF, as well as the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. Azerbaijan is one of the main partners of the Wartsila Company in the Caspian region. The company is engaged in the country, mostly in the oil and gas sphere, power generation and marine transportation.

The advanced new office and operations department were put into operation in June 2008. The company provides full service sales and service, as in power plants, and in the field of navigation. This service center also supports the company's activities in Central Asia.

Wartsila has 160 subsidiaries in 70 countries. Total number of employees is 18,000 people. The company's sales hit 5.3 billion euros in 2009.
