Azerbaijan has automated the pension payments system by 98 percent, State Social Protection Fund Public Relations Department Head Elman Babayev said.

"In January-April the number of pensioner receiving benefits on plastic cards has increased by 6,230 people," Babayev said.
According to him, just as of April 1, in the country 1,125,364 pensioners receive pensions on plastic cards, which is 98 percent of the total number of pensioners. According to Babayev, the number of persons receiving pensions via plastic cards in rural areas increased by 4,903 people in January-April. According to statistics of the Social Protection Fund, 95.9 percent of rural pensioners are provided with credit cards.
"All pensioners who live in cities of the country are provided with plastic cards by 100 percent, in connection with which Azerbaijan is a country with the most transparent practice in this regard", Babayev said.
The system of automation of pensions in the country is realized according to the State program on development of the pension insurance system in Azerbaijan for 2009-2015, approved by the President Dec. 30, 2008.
