
Azerbaijan's interior agencies jointly with the prosecutor's offices and the national security agencies detected 376 unsolved crimes over the past 15 years, Interior Minister Ramil Usubov said in an interview to the Azerbaijan state newspaper.
According to him, about 15,217 people who were wanted by police, and 134 accused who hid in the CIS countries and other countries were made criminally responsible for various crimes.
During this period, location of the 67 persons who were wanted by National Central Bureau of Interpol in Azerbaijan, and 23 persons wanted by Interpol, were determined.
Usubov said that as a result of complex operational search 436 groups and organized groups consisting of 955 people were rendered harmless. About 1115 units of illegal firearms and 166,000 bullets have been seized from them.
As a result of operational search against drug and human trafficking, over 372 kilograms of drugs - one ton and 23 kg were seized, 99 criminal groups consisting of 267 persons were rendered harmless compared to 2008.
According to the minister, 80 crimes related to human trafficking were detected as a result of purposeful measures in combating human trafficking, and 76 people were made criminally responsible, 25 criminal groups consisting of 55 persons were rendered harmless, number of victims of crimes - 91 people were determined.
In 2009, 159 employees of interior agencies got wound and seven employees died while fulfilling their service duties, Usubov said.
