Azerbaijan will host international relay on 65th anniversary of Great Patriotic War victory

The event will take place under decision of the Council of CIS Heads of State dated Oct. 10, 2008.
The international relay aims to perpetuate memory of soldiers and border guards who defended borders in the war years, as well as to reinforce unity and friendship between the peoples of the CIS member states.

The officers, border guards, veterans, public figures will carry  a cup, symbol of victory, through two routes across the territory of Russia and former Soviet republics.

The relay will finish on Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow in a solemn manner on May 28.
