Al Qaeda militants attacking Azerbaijani pilgrims in Karbala detained

Al Qaeda militants, who attacked Azerbaijani pilgrims in Karbala, were detained, Al-Ittihad newspaper reported quoting Iraqi police.
Police investigators identified four vahhabit terrorists attacking the pilgrims’ bus.

The Al Qaeda group committed several attacks against the pilgrims this year.

Police said the militants were wanted after the first terrorist attack, but they frequently changed places creating problems for police to detain them.

Azerbaijani pilgrims were attacked in Samarra, Iraq on Jan. 27.

Azerbaijani citizens – resident of Mashtaga village of Baku 16-year old Leila Ahmedova were killed, two - Mushfig Abdullayev, 24 and Nushaba Nazarova, 35 were wounded.

They were taken to the hospital of Kazimiyah district of Baghdad and then moved to hotel.

Leila Ahmedova killed during the terrorist attack was buried in Najaf, Iraq.
