As part of his trip to Azerbaijan, Foreign minister of Israel Avigdor Lieberman has met Wednesday representatives of the Jewish community.

Speaking at the event, heads of the Jewish communities praised relations between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Israel.
Head of the Mountain Jews community Semen Ikhiilov described the Israeli Foreign minister`s visit to Azerbaijan as an “important event”.
He noted different ethnic groups including Jews, peacefully coexist in Azerbaijan, adding they never faced anti-Semitism in the country.
Head of the European Jewish community of Azerbaijan Gennady Zelmanovich said Azerbaijan was an example of tolerance for some countries.
He stressed the Jews in the country enjoy the same rights as other citizens.
Boris Simanduyev, head of the “Krasnaya Sloboda” Jewish community in the country's Guba region said “President Ilham Aliyev takes care of them as national leader Heydar Aliyev did”.
Other speakers thanked President Ilham Aliyev for the favorable conditions created for the Jewish community.
Addressing the event Lieberman said the public diplomacy between Azerbaijan and Israel was at a high level.
He noted friendly relations between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Israel had old history.
The minister praised the tolerance of the Azerbaijani people and their ability to peacefully coexist with the representatives of all nationalities residing in the country.
Touching upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Lieberman said his country recognizes Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, adding the dispute must be settled on the basis of the principles of international law.
