Georgia releases captain of detained Buket ship

Mehmet Ozturk, captain of Buket ship floating under Panama’s flag detained in the coastal area of Georgia, was released following the court decision, CNN Turk reported.
The court of Georgian town of Poti previously sentenced Ozturk to 24 years in jail for violation of rules of entrance to country's territorial waters.

After the Turkish government’s interference and visit of Turkish foreign minister Davutoglu to Georgia the captain was released.

On Sept. 7, 17 crew members were fined by the court decision and then released. Four of them are Azerbaijani citizens.
