Azerbaijan launches coordination council to develop space industry

In his remarks Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov said the state program is of great importance.

Those who spoke at the meeting said realization of the state program will serve as a background for establishment and development of space industry in the country, provision of population with communications, information technologies, TV and radio broadcasting including access to world market, development of economic, social, scientific, cultural, security and other spheres.

The meeting also focused on preparation for telecommunications satellite, its launch into orbit and management, enhancing international cooperation with International Telecommunications Union with the purpose of allocating off-schedule orbital positions to Azerbaijan, conducting coordination work with certain satellite networks and placing special attention on creation of normative legal base for legal regulation.

With the view of coordinating implementation of measures envisaged in the State Program it was decided to establish Coordination Council from authoritative bodies that participated in the program.
