Azerbaijani parliament’s official comments on implementation of social projects in Azerbaijan

01 September 2009 [11:17] - TODAY.AZ
The global financial crisis has not impacted implementation of social projects in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani parliament’s standing social policy committee chair Hadi Rajabli said.
“Social expenditures did not reduce during this period,” Rajabli said.

He said the 2008 state budget was socio-directed and investment-focused while 2009 state budget will be rather socio-directed and crisis-resistant.

In January-July 2009 617.9 million manat have been spent from the budget on social security, a rise of up 33 percent from the same period last year. Nearly 688.3 million manat have been spent on education (a rise of 31 percent) and 194.7 million manat on health (a rise of 28.2 percent).

About 31.5 percent (1.662 billion manat) public expenditure was spent on payment of public wages, pensions and benefits.
