The Azerbaijani Press Council received 20 complaints about racketeering activities of some newspapers.

"Every day we receive complains about the newspapers involved in racketeering activity from Baku and various regions of the country," Executive Secretary of the Press Council Rahim Huseynzade said.
A while ago, the Press Council published a list of more than 80 newspapers, engaged in racketeering. The Council appealed to the law enforcement authorities to investigate these facts.
Huseynzade said the appeals were forwarded to the committee on struggle against racketeering of the Press Council which investigates and ascertains whether this or that newspaper is engaged in racketeering.
The most complaints come from children's hospitals of the capital. There were also complaints about managers and employees of some newspapers, who cheated the citizens under the pretext of their employment, Huseynzade said.
The final decision on the involvement of any publication in racketeering will be made only after full investigation.
