Azerbaijani sailors who were on a Turkish ship detained on the coast of India were allowed to leave the country and tonight they will return to their homeland, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's Spokesman Elkhan Polukhov said.

The Azerbaijani Embassy in India received permission for them to return to their homeland and provided the sailors with tickets. However, one of them refused to return to the country and decided to stay on the ship, said Polukhov.
In early August, the Turkish company ECE A Tanker Grup's ship was detained on the coast of India. On board the ship sailing under the Turkish flag were 10 Turkish nationals, one Georgian citizen and five Azerbaijani citizens.
Four of the Azerbaijani sailors, not including chief mechanic Azadkhan Babayev, are returning on the Istanbul-Baku evening flight, where they will arrive from India in the afternoon of Aug. 26.
