“The branches of Baku Islam University in country's regions will stop functioning."

Students will not be admitted to the university’s regional branches from this year,” rector of Baku Islam University Haji Sabir Hasanli said.
“There is a delay concerning admission to Islam University this year. This is connected with the delay of the license given to Islam University by the Education Ministry,” he said.
Hasanli said there are new admission rules in the license that will be given by the ministry.
“Our university has had no license up to now. After the amendments to the law on “Freedom of Religion” the problem of registration of Islam University appeared. State Committee for Religious Organizations, Caucasian Muslims Office and Education Ministry had discussions and agreed to give license to the university. That’s why from this year there will be no student admission to the branches of Islam University in Zagatala, Lankaran etc. But the people studying there will continue their education as students of Islam University. After that all regional branches will be closed,” he said.
Baku Islam University has been functioning for over 15 years.
