Azerbaijan Cabinet of Ministers says deputy PM’s words were misinterpreted

29 July 2009 [17:12] - TODAY.AZ
“The speech by Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov at a meeting of the State Commission to Combat Drug Abuse and Drugs Trafficking held in the Cabinet of Ministers has been misinterpreted by some media outlets,” the Cabinet of Ministers spokesperson Akif Ali said.
He said some media outlets interpreted the speech by Ali Hasanov in a form beneficial for themselves, especially his words that the children of well-off people use drugs.

“Some of them even delivered a statement by Ali Hasanov as a result of a fight in the ruling circles. All this is untrue and has no ground. In fact, the commission discussed more important steps in fight against drug addiction.

Ali said Hasanov noted that the family plays an important role in preventing the problem. Indeed, every parent should try to help his/her child avoid trouble. And in this context, I believe that given making unnecessary comments on what was said with good intentions is wrong  and should followed by refutation.

Some of the newspaper believe that the phrase well-off person means officials. However, not all people have a state position,” he said.
