Fire in Azneftyag oil refinery in Baku (UPDATE)

A fire took place in Azneftyag oil refinery in Baku on July 14.

The fire that took place in Azneftyag oil refinery in Baku owned by Azerbaijan State Oil Company (SOCAR) has been extinguished.

The operation of the installation which caused smoke generation will be resumed soon.

The fire took place at the installation 305 as a result of leakage in atmospheric vacuum installation, SOCAR press service said.

“The high temperature caused smoke generation in the installation, but it was not open fire. Firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after the fire began,” the SOCAR said. 

The company suffered no material damage.

Fire brigade arrived at the scene.

The fire has already been extinguished The fire took place at the unit 305. The firefighters prevented the fire from spreading.

The fire did not leave any injured. An investigation is underway into causes behind the fire.
