A documentary on Azerbaijan's National Leader Heydar Aliyev is being shot in Ukraine.
"The documentary is dedicated to Heydar Aliyev's assistance to the Ukrainian people during the period when he worked as the first deputy chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers and was a member of the Political Bureau," Member of the Board of the Odessa Branch of the Azerbaijanis Congress in Ukraine and Businessman Elkhan Sariyev said.

On Aug. 31, 1986, the wreck of the Admiral Nakhimov passenger vessel in the Black Sea claimed lives of 423 people. Only 836 passengers were saved.  A plot of the film is dedicated to Heydar Aliyev's activity as the chairman of the state commission on passenger rescue, Sariyev said.

The archives of the Russian Public TV channel were used during shooting of the film, Sariyev said.

"An appeal has been sent to the Russian Public TV channel to use ship wreck scenes in the movie and information has been provided from the archive of the Russian Public TV channel," Sariyev said.

Besides shooting the film, it is expected to open a special museum in Odessa on Heydar Aliyev's assistance to the passengers of the Admiral Nakhimov Vessel.
