Activities of Ilahiyyat mosque in Baku cause anxiety: state committee chairman

Activities of Ilahiyyat mosque located in Yasamal district in Baku cause anxiety, Azerbaijani State Committee for Religious Associations Chairman Hidayat Orujov said.
He said Caucasus Muslims Clerical Office takes necessary measures so that believers could make Friday prayers in other mosques.

"There are a lot of mosques in Baku to make Friday prayers. I urge believers to make Friday prayers in other mosques," Orujov said.

There is a dormitory near the mosque. The residents are concerned about their security. No one must forget what happened in Abu Bakr mosque, he said.

İlahiyyat mosque has been temporarily closed down. It will be opened as soon as required documents are received, he said.

Head of Baku State University (BSU) and residents of nearby houses to appealed police and the committee in connection with the crowd around the mosque.

Rector of BSU Abel Maharramov said earlier at a press conference that azan in the mosque hinders holding of classes in high school.
