Azerbaijan to host int'l conference on civil society development

"The conference which will be organized by the Council of State Support to the NGO under the Azerbaijani president jointly with the OSCE will take place in Baku in autumn," Parliamentarian and Chairman of the Council Azay Guliyev said at the meeting with OSCE Baku Office Head Bilge Jankorel on June 4.

The Council under the Azerbaijani President renders to NGO not only financial assistance, but also helps in raising the level of knowledge, information and technical support, establishing international relations and other issues, he said.

Guliyev said the parliament will examine the draft law "On Volunteers", which he previously submitted to improve the legislation on NGOs.

Head of OSCE Baku office Jankorel said that he wants to support an international conference to be held in Baku, and will pay special attention to cooperation with the Council and in other areas.
