Interior Ministry says it enhances safety of country's educational institutions

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan is enhancing the safety of educational institutions after the tragedy on 30 April in Baku, when fire at the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy left dead and wounded, Interfax-Azerbaijan reports.
"After this incident, 20 schools, most of which are privately owned, signed a contract with the Ministry of Internal Affairs for their safety",  said Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic Oruj Zalov, speaking in Parliament Tuesday.

According to him, after April 30 tragedy the administrations of high schools started to display a particular interest to ensuring safety of students and teachers.

"Probably, other educational institutions will also conclude such a contract soon", said the Deputy Minister.

O. Zalov said that the main security department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs protects over 7,000 establishments on the basis of bilateral contracts. He announced that such contracts allow to ensure the armed defense for the establishments.
