Chief Physician of Baku Clinical Psychiatric Hospital: I am afraid the tragedy that occurred at the Oil Academy could occur elsewhere again, so there is a need to strengthen the protection of all public facilities

- Today several versions of the reasons for yesterday's tragedy in Baku are now proposed. What do you think has led the perpetrators of massacres in the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy to committing this crime?

- First of all, the investigation is not yet finished, and we do not know the motive for the crime of this man, we do not have any medical or moral right . One clearly to judge his adequacy. But one thing is clear that he was in the heat of passion. There is no doubt that he suffered from complexes that can cause such aggression. Many psychiatric terms could be found to describe its internal state when he committed these horrible, brutal and senseless murder.

- How justified is version of that at the time of the murder he was trying to win the glory of Gerostrat?

- I do not think so. The Version that t he has done with the purpose to enter into history, as did many others before in human history, killing Lincoln, Robespierre, John Lennon, is unlikely, because he committed suicide. Therefore, until the investigation is not completed, it would be at least, naive and wrong to provide psychological or psychiatric evaluation,

The only thing is obvious": we must all now fully, as psychologists, help victims, survivors of such grief, shock. Yesterday, by the order of the Health Ministry Ogtay Shiraliev all the doctors of our clinic were at the academy, and in hospitals to provide every assistance to all victims and their relatives. Just half an hour after the incident we have been at the Oil Academy, then at the Republican Hospital, Semashko, the morgue.

According to the Minister, today mental health services, including our urban clinic and dispensary in Baku, will assist all those in need, and if there is a need, they will be put to hospital.

We mourn together with all people and we are ready to do everything that depends on us.

- Is it possible that the killer followed the steps of his predecessors who committed massacres in schools and kindergartens in the West?

- Yes. Perhaps this case is associated with similar cases in Germany, Belgium, the United States, movies. After all, it is likely an unbalanced personality, a psychopath, perhaps with some complexes, some violent tendencies. But, again, I want to emphasize that before the end of the investigation we can not make a final verdict, but can only guess.

- Can the events in the Oil Academy repeat in other institutions of the Republic?

- I'm afraid they can so. In a conversation with my colleagues, I have already said that hideous example might be followed by others. The instinct of destruction and violence, unfortunately, lies in every person. Someone might follow his example and commit the crime similar to this. Therefore, there is a need to strengthen the vigilance and protection of all facilities.
