President of Azerbaijan visits newly reconstructed Museum of Azerbaijan literature

President Ilham Aliyev visited newly repaired and reconstructed building of the Museum of Azerbaijan Literature named after great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi.
The President first viewed an exhibition of photographs reflecting attention national leader Heydar Aliyev paid to the Azerbaijani culture, including literature.

Director of the museum, Correspondent Member of the National Academy of Sciences, Member of Parliament, Rafael Huseynov, told the President on the history of the building and informed him on the reconstruction work done here.

In the newly reconstructed building, the museum`s exposition is arranged in 30 main and 10 subsidiary halls covering a total area of 2500 square meters. It has two 270- and 75-seat conference halls.

While before the reconstruction barely 1,000 out of over 120,000 exhibits were displayed in the museum, now the exposition contains over 25,000 items. All of the exposition halls have been computerized with electronic databases and audiovisual materials available for visitors in Azerbaijani, English and Russian languages.

Administrative rooms covering an area of 100 square meters have been outfitted with comfortable furniture and necessary equipment. Video surveillance system has been installed in all exposition halls and administrative rooms.

The museum`s exposition displays the path Azerbaijani literature followed from ancient times to the present. The collection includes unique manuscripts of outstanding figures in Azerbaijani literature, miniatures, illustrations for classical works, newspapers and magazines, works by modern Azerbaijani writers, documentary photographs, artistic carpets, a collection of coins found in Azerbaijan, ceramic and bronze ware and other monuments of tangible culture.

President Ilham Aliyev toured the museum and signed its guestbook.
