Court receives appeal about release of Bizim Yol newspaper correspondent

According to Ashurov, the state of Mushvig Huseynov, held in correctional facility No 2, has worsened.

He said the court might take a decision in line with article 78 (release due to illness) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

Notably, on January 21 of 2008 the Court of Grave Crimes sentenced Huseynov to 6 years in prison. Moreover, he is prohibited to undertake the journalism activity for two years. Under the decision of the Appellate Court, the court reduced imprisonment term to Huseynov to five years.

The journalist was arrested by the officials of the Ministry of National Security on July 24 of the last year. Huseynov was charged under article 311.1 (taking bribes).
