Global financial crisis may change ecological projects in Azerbaijan: minister

05 March 2009 [11:43] - TODAY.AZ
The global financial crisis has not seriously influenced ecological projects, the Environment and Natural Resources Ministry said.
"Changes will be made to projects based on economic possibilities," Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Huseyingulu Bagirov told Trend News.

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) said several projects may be postponed due to the crisis.

"These are mainly ecological projects," SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev said.

Ecological projects in Azerbaijan are carried out by the president's initiative.

"In 2008, roughly 18.3 million manat were allocated from the state budget to implement projects. A total of 17 million manat were invested in different Emergency Situations Ministry, Baku City Administration and other adjusted agency projects," Bagirov said.
