"I was informed from Washington and Prague that local radio broadcasts of international media will continue to operate. There is not any opinion on discontinuing and canceling the radio broadcasts", Public Affairs Officer of the US Embassy Terry Davidson said, APA reports.

Asked whether discontinuing such broadcasts will have impact on the US-Azerbaijan relations or not, the diplomat said that it would not be a good subject of meetings with officials of Obama administration. "We try to improve relations between the two countries. Such kind of issues did not contribute to the relations," he said.

Davidson stressed that Azerbaijan should observe the laws.

"We should respect Azerbaijani laws. Moreover, we are making efforts to restore the activity of radio broadcasts of international media. We will looking for various ways to restore the activity of radios and may be we will find an acceptable way out of the situation," he said.

Nushiravan Maharramli, Chairman of National Television and Radio Council told APA that the Council took position on radio broadcasts of international media.

"Broadcasting such radios of international media in Azerbaijan is not legal. If there is a need for the broadcasts and it is coordinated with intergovernmental agreement, we will consider the issue. We have taken stance on the issue," he said.

Maharramli noted that it was not known when Azerbaijan would consider the proposals of the US Broadcasting Council.
