Man, torturing Azerbaijanis in Armenian captivity, sentenced to 14 years in Baku

The court trial on the case of former serviceman of the armed forces of Azerbaijan, resident of the Gusar region Elmar Guliyev born in 1966 ended in the Military Court of Grave Crimes.
He was charged with high treason, torturing Armenian captured Azerbaijani citizens. This occurred in Shusha jail in 1993, said sources in the court.

Under the verdict, Elmar Guliyev was found guilty under article 274 (high treason) and sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Under the materials of the suit, on March 31? of 1993 Elmar Guliyev serving at N military unit of the Azerbaijani Defense ministry surrendered himself to Armenian servicemen. On March 31-November 22 of 1993 Guliyev was attracted to cooperation by the bodies of Armenian special services and told the military secret to the Armenian armed forces.

Under Armenians' instructions, Elmar Guliyev beat Azerbaijani citizens in Armenian captivity and along with Armenian soldiers he tortured and abused Azerbaijani captives.

He was detained on August 20 of 2008.
