Azerbaijani Ombudsman submits annual report to President

Azerbaijani Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova submitted an annual 2008 report on Provision and Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms in Azerbaijan to the President and Parliament, Ombudsman Office told Trend News on Feb. 27.
In accordance with the Constitution, Ombudsman's report was also submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers, Constitution Court, Supreme Court and General Prosecutor's Office.

After listening to the report at the Parliament, it will be posted in newspapers, Azerbaijani Legislative Collection and other media outlets.

Fixed by the Azerbaijani Constitution and international agreement supported by the country, the report includes generalized proposals and recommendations on state and local self-government organizations, rehabilitation of human rights and freedoms violated by high-ranking officials, protection of human rights and prevention of their violation, study of situation of human rights provision, consequences of juridical enlightenment and scientific and analytical activity, cooperation with state structures, community and media outlets, international relations, as well as more reliable provision of human rights and freedoms.

The Parliament will listen to the report soon.
