Aydin Mirzazade: "There have never been cases of violence in the armed forces of Azerbaijan"

23 October 2008 [08:58] - TODAY.AZ
"I have visited the military unit of the armed forces, locating in the Hajiqabul region, where the violence in the Azerbaijani army was recorded on tape and I have many arguments about this case...", said Aydin Mirzazade, deputy chairman of the parliamentary commission for defense and security.

Mirzazade said that he had had a meeting with the dismissed commander of the unit, officers of the General Staff, who conducted the inspection and talked to the officers and soldiers.

"I have seen all the billets, including the one where the video tape was recorded and other parts. I found it out that the video tape is a result of staging", said Mirzazade.

According to him, the case with shooting a video tape about violence was as follows:

"The video tape records servicemen of the same draft.

They are all friends. In order to prove their influence, which they had in the army, in their further civil life, they decided to stage the case of humiliation of conscripts by older soldiers.

Then the video tape appeared in the Internet in some way. It all occurred in the club of this military unit".

At the same time, Mirzazade noted that regardless of the motives of shooting, it is a violation of discipline and rules and it must be assessed legally.

"There have never been cases of violation in the armed forces of Azerbaijan, including the divisions of internal troops. Some people, making use of this video tape, try to create a negative image about an Azerbaijani officer and soldier. Discipline, respect and care about soldiers are observed in the Azerbaijani army and the society believes in its armed forces", said Mirzazade.
