07 October 2008 [13:03] - TODAY.AZ
"Different regions of the world show seismic activity. Azerbaijan, which is located on the Alp-Himalayan earthquake belt, is also a seismic zone.
According to the calculations, epicenter of earthquakes in Azerbaijan may be maximally 7-7.5 magnitude by Richter scale. But there is no seismic activity in the territory of Azerbaijan now," Gurban Yetirmishli, head of the Republic Seismic Service Center of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences told APA. He said that little earthquake shocks were recorded in Azerbaijan’s territory.

"We give information about feelable quakes. Weak shocks are recorded by sensitive devices and such shocks are considered normal for seismic zones. According to the present information, there is no strong seismic activity in any part of Azerbaijan," he said.
