Bizim Yol newspaper correspondent in prison receives no medicines for treatment

Imprisoned journalist of the Bizim yol newspaper Mushvig Huseynov, held in medical center of the Penitentiary system of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Justice, does not receive medicines, said journalist's relative Javidan Huseynov, reports Day.Az with reference to the Institute for Reporter Freedom and Safety.

He said Huseynov, transferred to the medical center for treatment, had faced a number of problems.

"Food, served for sick prisoners in the medical center, is unfit for consumption. He was told that he is not ill and that he had been ill before and now he is well, while Huseynov said that he still has pains and asked to give him the medicines. But his request was ignored", said Huseynov.

The journalist's relative noted that Huseynov asked to allow him to contact home to ask for a home-made food and for medicines, but this request was also dismissed.

In this connection, Mushvig Husetnov wrote letters to human rights activist Elchin Behbudov and International Committee of the Red Cross, but these letters were not delivered to the recipient", Huseynov announced.
