Third Congress of Azerbaijani women starts in Baku

The current state of the women's movement and many other urgent issues will be discussed at the third congress of women, opening in Baku.
According to Novosti-Azerbaijan, the congress is attended by about 2000 delegations from different regions of Azerbaijan, country's officials, representatives of different state structures, international organizations, as well as foreign guests.

The event participants will draw conclusions of the work in development of women's movement of Azerbaijan through the past five years, define perspective trends of the activity of state structures and NGOs for raising gender equality and adopt a number of documents.

Chairman of the state committee Hijran Huseynova will make a response report "State women's policy of Azerbaijan Republic" to cover the state of women in the country, their role in the social formation, contacts of Azerbaijani women with foreign organizations, tasks of the State Committee for the next few years and so on.

It should be noted that in the framework of the preparations for the congress, conferences of lawyer women, business ladies, women, representing NGOs, leader women, deputies, science and culture workers were held in Baku and in the regions.

It should be noted that the first congress of the Azerbaijani women was held in Baku in 1998 and the second took place in 2003.
