National Security Ministry and General Prosecutor’s Office made a statement on other members of the gang, which exploded Abu Bekir mosque in Ulvi Bunyatzadeh Street, Baku on August 17, rendered harmless.
Public affairs department of National Security Ministry told APA that on September 6, it was reported that one of the active members of the gang Telman Abdullayev was in the forest between Avaran and Khurel villages of Gusar region.
On September 26, 2007, Telman Abdullayev wounded two policemen during the operations carried out in Gusar region by law-enforcement bodies to render harmless criminal gang "Forest brothers" and escaped. Gusar Region Prosecutor’s Office launched criminal case on the fact under article 29, 120.1 (premeditated murder) of the Criminal Code and passed a decision on holding Telman Abdullayev accountable. Since his whereabouts were not known, search was initiated. On September 6, the place, where Telman Abdullayev was supposed to hide, was reviewed and home appliances and other things were found. It was found out that the suspects were hiding in the house owned by Rasim Asadullayev in Gusar. Special plan was prepared to render the terrorists harmless and "Gartal" Special Detachment of National Security Ministry carried out an anti-terror operation. The persons hiding in the house refused to surrender, threw hand grenades on the Special Detachment and fired on them. Telman Abdullayev and Gurshad Alikhanov were killed and Ramil Asadullayev was wounded during the operation. The latter died on the way to hospital.
AKMS and AKS-77 submachine guns, PM pistol, gun-ports, bullets of different calibers, cold gun, field tent, map, compass, military-tactical books, medicines, 15 700 USD and 460 AZN, as well as two YAESU radio-station were found on scene of action. Experts identified that the radio stations are working in the short ultra-wave diapason with 3-5 km distance communication, air control, Internet access and other opportunities.
It was identified that AKS-74 found on the scene belonged to Interior Ministry’s officer Ali Yolchuyev, who was killed during the operation near Hazra Village of Gusar region on August 28, 2008. PM pistol was used by Telman Abdullayev, who wounded two police officers on Septembe 26, 2007 and killed the Interior Ministry’s officer on August 29, 2008.
Servicemen of Interior Troops and local police officers were involved in provision of security of nearby residents during the special operation. No casualties were reported among the forces involved in the operation. Investigative-operational measures are continued for investigation of all cases. The public community will be informed further.
