22 August 2008 [09:27] - TODAY.AZ
An unexpected turn in the investigation of a criminal case on explosion in the Abu Bekir mosque became a subject for discussions in the bodies of internal affairs.
The investigation group traced and detained the second suspected on the case, Ali Akhundov, who is a police major and a criminal expert of the Sabail district police station.

Informed sources told Echo that unregistered arms including guns, submachine guns, ammunitions, found during searches, but not delivered to the police, were revealed in Akhundov's office. Religious literature, which is said to be of radical (vahhabi) nature was also revealed.

Akhundov's colleagues stated that big money encouraged the latter to become the member of an organized criminal grouping of a radical Islam trend, which would not be satisfied with the recent explosion, pursuing far-reaching goals. Notably, the policemen feature Akhundov as a weak expert in his field, "he can not be called a specialist". Yet, the information was not confirmed officially. According to assistant of the city prosecutor Ramiz Rzayev, he has no such information.
