Ali Ahmedov: "Separate problems with some journalists should not be presented as common problems with media rights and liberties"

Speaking before journalists, deputy chairman and Yeni Azerbaijan Party executive secretary Ali Ahmedov noted that Azerbaijani press uses all rights and liberties of an independent state.

"It was previously said that press is a mirror of a society. I do not know whether these words correspond to present-day reality or no, but I know for sure that the main task of the mass media today is the timely and objective provision of information to public about the ongoing events. On the whole, the Azerbaijani press fulfills the tasks for informing the public", noted he,

At the same time, the party executive secretary noted that with each day, the number of moments, coordinated by the public and mass media, is growing. He noted that previously most people reacted negatively on the articles, criticizing them. But they should understand that they should not be angry and draw conclusions.

"In some cases, the freedom of press and rights of journalists are spoken of as of an absolute factor. Yet, mass media representatives should understand that it is impossible to divide the people to categories in the sphere of human rights and liberties and others also have equal rights", said Ahmedov.

Moreover, the party executive secretary considers that separate problems, connected with some media representatives should not be presented as common problems with media rights and liberties.

"There can be powers beyond Azerbaijan, which would wish to put pressure on the country and use some media representatives as a tool in their hands. Journalists should not do it and should always speak for national interests", said Ahmedov.
