The decision, declared by the Federation of International Hockey (FIH) regarding two Spanish hockey players, whose doping tests were positive during the qualification finals in Baku, was surprising, to put it mildly.

According to Day.Az, the FIH court commission did not only disqualified the Spanish team, which is envisioned in the anti-doping charter of the International Federation, but also did not appeal any individual sanctions towards the hockey players. They just remained scot-free.
How can it be so? At the time, when fight with doping is toughening each year, the Spanish hockey players, whose doping tests, taken by the World Antidoping Agency were twice positive, were just patted on the back and let out. Who gave the right to FIH to ignore resolution of the main anti-doping organization, which adopted a new resolution in Spain in November of 2007 and thus intensified antidoping struggle? Is the influence of the president of the European Hockey Federation Leandro Negre on FIH so great that the international federation can even ignore its charter?
Or, perhaps, the FIH officials was afraid of depriving the Hockey team of the EU member-state of the Olympic Games and sending a country from the South Caucasus there? Perhaps, they are afraid of scandals from Spanish representatives, largely represented in the International Olympic Committee? Anyway, it is obvious that not sport moments influenced the resolution of the sport organization.
If WADA has decided that the doping test is positive, how can FIH state that "no violations of the antidoping rules were recorded", as it is fixed in the announcement of the International Federation regarding hockey player No 2, whose name is not specified.
The second hockey player Gloria Komerme (her name was declared by some unknown reasons) should be especially mentioned. The following was stated about her: "The FIH court commission has revealed the violation of antidoping rules but defined that the violation occurred not by the player's fault, therefore, no sanctions will be applied".
What does it mean? What is the FIH hinting at? The hockey player took a prohibited substance, but it is not her fault? You know, most sportsmen, involved in doping scandals, have no fault, but does it rescue them from disqualification?
Imagine, if Azerbaijani hockey players were in the same situation. Do you think they will not be punished? I strongly doubt it. Our sportsmen have been repeatedly sanctioned by extremely strict international officials. Representatives of many other countries are also strictly punished but it seems not to refer to Spain.
Azerbaijani side intends to send a protest to the sport arbitrary court in Losanna and attain justice. The lawlessness of FIH should not remain unpunished. We should make them treat all their members equally and respect Azerbaijan. Otherwise, our companies will have all grounds to review their sponsor positions on the European and International federations.
