Men accused of blackmailing member of Parliament Ahad Ahmadov released from the court room

The Court of Grave Crimes under the chairmanship of Judge Rauf Aliyev issued a verdict on the case of men accused of blackmailing member of Parliament Ahad Ahmadov to squeeze money from him.
According to APA, editor-in-chief of Yeni Cumhuriyyet newspaper Nusrat Rahimov was conditionally sentenced to 3 years and 6 month of imprisonment and other accused persons –former reporter of the Azerbaijan TV and Radio Broadcasting Company Rza Panahov, founder of Muhakime newspaper Shamsi Mirzayev (Vafadar) were fined with 550 AZN. Other accused persons Zahid Muradov and Zabil Panahov were sentenced to five-month punishment and they have already served it.

A decision on the judicial restraint of all accused persons was changed and they were released from the court room.

Rahimov was detained while he was taking 1500 dollars from Ahmadov threatening him to spread disgraceful information about him and his family. After the investigation, Mirzayev and Ahmadov’s relatives Zahid Muradov, Zabil Panahov and Rza Panahov were arrested. They were charged under Article 182 (extortion) of the Criminal Court.
