The Baku Appellate Court considered yesterday an appeal of former representative of state company AZAL in Iran Elchin Akhundov against a verdict, passed by the Court of Grave Crimes, said a source from the Appellate Court.
The Appeallate Court considered Akhundov's appeal groundless and upheld the first instance decision.
The court was presided by judge Rizvan Safarov.
It should be noted that Akhundov was sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment for misappropriation of large sums with abuse of powers. He has not transferred sums received from air tickets to the bank account. He is suspected of misappropriating $612,728.
